Before You Start
Coordination and Organization
When installing/updating a customer's application we need to make sure a few things are taken care of first. All of these items can be done a week or two in advance, but communication is key for most.
- Set up an install time and date with the customer. Several of our customers limit the access to their servers so we need to make sure if we run into any issues that their IT department can answer our questions as quickly as possible.
- Announce to programming department that there is a check in freeze for all code for the app you are planning on installing/updating.
- Only caveat with this is if there something out that is a HARD REQUIREMENT for the customer then we must coordinate with the programmer to make sure it gets done before the install.
- New Servers Only: Verify that the new server meets the requirements outlined by our company for hosting the applications we develop. Those hardware/software requirements will be outlined in the pre-install portion of this site.
- Verify the following with the customer's IT Department
- Which server will be the APP Server (Internal use only)
- Which server will be the WEB Server (Public facing server for Online Payments, etc)
